BASC offers a safe, friendly and stimulating environment for your child. We cater for children from New Entrants to Year 8, who are supervised by trained staff.

BASC is school-owned and situated on the school grounds with access to the Turf, bike track and playgrounds. The programme is structured with a choice of activities including sports, team building for social skill development, and craft activities.

Before School Care

Operates 7am – 8.30am
Year 0, 1 & 2 children are walked to their classroom at 8.30am.
These prices are for children who have a permanent, ongoing place at BASC.

Year 0, 1 & 2 children are collected from their classroom. Older children walk independently to BASC.

OSCAR (Out of School Care and Recreational Subsidy)

Work & Income have OSCAR subsidies for all our programmes. OSCAR is a non-taxable payment that aims to assist low income caregivers to enter and remain in employment. After School Care Shop

Although children are given a variety of baking, savouries and fruit, for afternoon tea each day, some children like to buy additional food items in the afternoon. These items are only given to children who have permission from parents/caregivers.The amount is charged to your account. Alternatively, your child may pay with cash. Further information

  • Place of employment must be stated on the enrolment form for both parents. In the event we cannot contact you personally, we will contact the business. 
  • Payments are made by Automatic Payment or Cash. 
  • Accounts not paid in full by end of term will incur an additional 15% penalty. 
  • All payments to be made to ASB 12 3059 0469042 00 Sherwood BASC stating your child’s name as reference.  
  • If you drop your child off before or collect your child after your nominated booked time, you will be charged an additional cost of $10.00 per 30 mins (minimum charge 30 minutes)
  • Please note, Before 7am and after 6pm, an early drop-off / late collection fee applies. $15.00 for every 15 minutes early or late. This applies even if it is 5 minutes before or past the hour.
  • If you send food from home for your child to have, which we must reheat or prepare, e.g. popcorn or noodles etc… $2.00 will be charged to your account for preparation and cleaning.
  • All absences or early collections or drop-offs, are charged at the hours you are booked in for. This applies to Before School Care, After School Care & Holiday Programmes i.e. if you collect early, your child is sick, or you take a day’s leave during term time or holiday programme. Changing to another day is not permitted. 
  • Payment is required 2 weeks in advance or on the Monday before your child/children attend.  You can make arrangements to pay fortnightly or monthly to coincide with paydays.
  • While you can see your BASC booking at any time on Enrolmy, you cannot make any changes unless we give you permission to do so. This is due to staffing being allocated for adult to child ratio. 
  • Enrolmy.com is used for Attendance Sheets and Student information. It does not hold your accounts for payments. This is completed on MYOB, where statements are sent from. At any time, you can request a copy of your account. 
  • During term time, if you wish to hold your child’s space, e.g. for a holiday during term time, you can hold their space for a maximum of two weeks only per year. The reduced rate is calculated at $5 for each hour your child is currently attending. This “on hold” can only be taken as either, two separate one-week bookings, or a consecutive two-week booking. Single days are not allowed.
  • In the event of an unforeseeable closure of the programme, eg: State of weather, Strike or Pandemic, the Principal and Board have the right to use the on-hold or nominate a discounted fee to ensure the programme is available for your return.
  • All other absences will be charged the full amount. 
  • Public holidays and Ministry of Education holidays will be charged for if your child would have attended that day. 
  • Term time opening hours 7am – 6pm.
  • Teacher-only days will be advertised. Provided we have enough bookings & staff who can work the daytime hours. 
  • We are closed on Public Holidays and Ministry of Education holidays that fall after a public holiday. 
  • Please note we cannot give medicine unless you complete a medicine in school form. They must be prescribed by your Doctor and not over the counter from a Chemist due to dosage
  • If your child is not well, please keep them home to stop the spread of germs to staff and other children. 
  • Follow Ministry of Health Covid guidelines regarding return dates. 
  • BASC is a Sherwood School Board owned facility. The Policies are the same as the schools and are available on School Docs. You can find the link to these on the school website.
  • BASC has operated since February 2000 when it was approved by the Child, Youth & Family Services. In 2010, BASC received the Quality Cloak of Assurance (Te Korowai Kouanga) Level 3 Excellence.
